Artist to watch: Asaf Avidan & the Mojos

Asaf Avidan is a singler from Israel based in Tel Aviv. With his band, he just released his second album Poor Boy / Lucky Man in Europe. Small Change Girl is the single to the spectacular new album. His voice is extraordinary and compares to the likes of Janis Joplin or Jack White.

Hurts - Wonderful Life
This new band from Manchester will be the next bix hype. They unite 80s sound with modern aestethics. I’m just listening to the press album sampler and I can promise you: This album will break all records! At first I was a little bit put back by the extreme retro electronic sound, but the melodies and lyrics are just breath-taking. Watch out for this group! (The album’s release is set for late August).

Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity (1996)

This video won loads of prizes, including an MTV Video Award for “Best video of the year). Director Jonathan Glazer explains: ”No computer trickery was used. ‘What we did was put the whole set on wheels and attach the camera to one wall. The furniture also had little wheels, and we had guys moving the set and the furniture [outside of the frame]. The floor never moved. It was like a magician’s trick.”

AC/DC News - Iron Man 2

The film adaptation of the Marvel-comic “Iron Man” was one of the biggest blog busters in recent years. For the sequel, the producers decided to do the soundtrack with AC/DC classics, such as “Shoot To Thrill” of the legendary “Back In Black”, “Highway To Hell” or “Let There Be Rock”.

Sony Music promotes this Soundtrack as the new sensation, but all that’s new is merely a new music video to “Thunderstruck”. It seems, that the rock-grandpas use any imaginable means to increase their cult-status and merchandise numbers. It’s pretty much the same phenomenon as Kiss. And, let’s be honest, it bores the shit out of us, doesn’t it?
